Program Overview
The Comprehensive Dental Assisting program is a 10-month program designed to prepare students to become a multi-skilled Dental Assistant in the front office or working with the dentist. The program includes a balance of classroom, clinical, and laboratory experiences. Upon completion of the program and meeting all of the course requirements, students will receive a Comprehensive Dental Assisting Diploma, Radiation Safety and Technique certificate, and Expanded Duties Dental Assistant certificate.

What You’ll Learn
- The Dental Basic Sciences including all aspects of preventive dentistry, oral hygiene, the anatomical structure of teeth, and the classification of cavities.
- Clinical Procedures such as infection control, hazardous materials management, chair-side assisting techniques, instrument transfer, and administration of anesthesia and sedation.
- HIPAA and OSHA regulations, professional ethics, legal standards, and interpersonal communication.
- Dental insurance billing and coding, insurance tracking systems, and claim filing procedures
- Dental cements, liners and bonding agents, and restorative materials.
- Dental office administration, and scheduling.
Career Opportunities
Real-World Training
Prior to graduation, students are required to complete an externship under the guidance of area experts. During this externship, students will refine the skills learned on campus as well as work directly with patients for real-life experience.
